Anchored in Purpose, Empowered by Support

Hope takes root when support meets purpose—and from that place, transformation begins.

When Tanika faced a difficult time in her life, unsure how she would continue her education, One Purse stepped in with financial support that made all the difference. That support allowed her to stay on track and continue pursuing her master’s degree in social work—something that’s far more than a career to her; it’s a calling.

Her passion lies in helping others, especially children and adolescents in the foster care system. Having experienced that system herself, she knows firsthand how powerful it is to have someone who genuinely cares and advocates for you.

“Thanks to One Purse, I was able to stay focused on my path and continue preparing to be that person for others—to support, guide, and empower those who feel unseen or unheard. One Purse didn’t just provide financial help—they helped me hold on to purpose. Today, I feel stronger, more focused, and more determined than ever to become the kind of change I once needed.”

In May 2025, Tanika proudly graduated with her bachelor’s degree in social work. Although she dreamed of continuing her education, she wasn’t sure how it would be possible given her financial circumstances. But with One Purse’s support, that dream stayed alive. She remained on the path toward earning her master’s degree, gaining not only academic momentum but also renewed hope, stability, and confidence—even during life’s hardest moments.

Tanika’s vision for the future is clear: she wants to give back and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others, especially youth in foster care who need someone to believe in them.

For her, social work is a vital part of her healing journey. Growing up in foster care and facing personal hardships shaped her deeply—but instead of being defined by pain, she’s choosing to transform it. Every class, internship, certification, and recognition has helped her better understand herself and her past, while also equipping her to serve others. Education gave her the tools not only to help others, but also to heal herself.

“Today, I walk with confidence, clarity, and compassion—and I am committed to uplifting others who feel unheard or overlooked. That, to me, is what being an overcomer truly means.”
