Restored and Rising: Darian’s Journey with One Purse

“Strength is not the absence of struggle—it’s rising again and again.”

For Darian, those words are more than a saying—they are her reality. She was trafficked and struggled with addiction for 10 years, cycling in and out of jail. During that time, she met her advocate, Tammy. After one of the lowest points in her life, she found herself back in jail for what would be the last time. Exhausted and unsure of what to do, she asked Tammy for help. Tammy connected her with the Wellhouse in Alabama, and she was accepted into their program.

“I asked my judge to allow me to attend as part of my sentence, and he agreed. Completing the program marked the start of my new life. I eventually moved back to Orlando, where I began working at One Purse.”

One Purse has not only given her a job and financial stability, but they have also supported her personal growth. They helped her discover something she truly enjoys.

“Because of One Purse, I also have the opportunity to further my education at Full Sail University, where I am working toward my bachelor’s degree.”

Pursuing her education and career has given her confidence and shown her that her past does not define her future. Each step she takes reminds her that she is capable, has purpose, and can build a life far beyond what she once thought possible.

Today, I’m thriving, supported, and living with purpose. My life is more than I ever imagined it could be, and One Purse has played a huge role in making that possible.”
