Breaking Generational Cycles Through Education and Healing

Ebony was trafficked from the ages of 19 to 24 and experienced sexual exploitation beginning at
just 4 years old. Despite everything she endured, she shares that she has been blessed to see
the light of day.

Today, Ebony is celebrating a major milestone: she was accepted to Point Loma Nazarene
University and began pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration.

“God has truly blessed me to be able to see 39 and break generational curses.”

Showing her three daughters that she can pursue her dreams and make them a reality — with
the support of organizations like One Purse — has kept her going and empowered them to want
to attend college as well.

“One Purse provided me with a brand new Lenovo laptop, allowing me to complete my
classwork and continue pursuing my education.”

During her time at PLNU, she completed several classes, created a pitch deck for a student-led
innovation club, and was awarded another scholarship. This additional support helped cover
expenses beyond tuition.

“Being able to call myself a student pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree is truly a stepping stone to
feeling completely free and no longer bound by my trauma.”

Ebony currently works in the anti-human trafficking field and uses her lived experience as a
voice for others. As she continues her education, she looks forward to one day confidently
saying she is a graduate and speaking even more boldly about her journey and purpose.

Today, her daughters are inspired, empowered, and believe they are capable of completing
college as well.

“I am no longer just living through my trauma.”
